Disassembly and Transportation of Cylindrical Silos

Minería Minería Minería
Import and transfer of four high-capacity silos for animal feed transport.
We coordinated the import, unloading, and transportation of four silos from the Port of Callao to La Joya, Arequipa. We managed the customs process, supervised unloading at APM, and organized the inland transport using four tractor units. All documentation was kept in order, and deadlines were met. The cargo was monitored throughout the journey to ensure an efficient, on-time delivery without delays.

Project Development

The challenge

Managing the transport of the silos from China to Peru on a break bulk vessel, securing all required permits and avoiding any additional costs throughout the operation.
Packing of small parts

The strategy

Advising the client from the beginning of the purchasing process in China, then leading the logistics planning and coordinating each stage of the project through to its final destination.

The project design

Since the cargo was located in China, the logistics planning was developed based on blueprints, technical datasheets, and photographs. Using this material, customs requirements for entry into Peru were reviewed, and an operational plan was built: type of transport, required permits, and transfer conditions. A mechanical support service was even included as part of the preventive planning, in case of any complications with the silos during movement.

The break bulk vessel faced several reschedulings due to congestion at the Port of Callao. We adapted to the changes, keeping the operation on track without affecting the final deadlines. A port supervisor was assigned to oversee the cargo at every stage, and all necessary equipment was planned both for the customs clearance process and for the land transport to its final destination.
Planning
The operation was carried out as designed and planned. The transport units entered the port, connected the silos, and moved them to an intermediate base for inspection before starting the three-day journey to La Joya.
All circulation permits processed through the MTC were ready in advance, which allowed the transfer to be completed without delays or cost overruns.

The Challenges

We coordinated with customs and advised the client on the proper submission of all required documents, ensuring a smooth nationalization process.

We faced high levels of port traffic, which led to constant rescheduling. We applied logistics strategies to avoid delays in cargo retrieval and to keep the overall project timeline on track.

We assigned four tractor units specially coordinated to ensure an efficient pickup and transfer from the port to La Joya, guaranteeing traceability and control throughout the entire route.

The silos arrived as loose cargo on a break bulk vessel, which required special care in stowage and securing. This type of cargo presents additional challenges, especially during hooking operations, which is why both the voyage and the unloading at the port were closely supervised.

Project Review

They made my life easier. They took care of everything and were so committed, it honestly felt like the machine belonged to them, not me.
